The Pop-Machina Academy is a training program to guide innovation in circular economy and making in cities. By training community champions, the program supports the development of local circular economy communities of practice. The learning journey is designed from a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) approach and also highlights maker education principles by following a learning by doing methodology. During this course, you will be able to connect with your local environment in order to learn key concepts around circularity and circular economy (such as recycling, repairing and re-using) as well as how to adapt them to their city’s context. To support this process, the content will also explore experiential learning and hands-on activities, problem-solving, collaboration and creative processes. This first course “Becoming a Circular Maker Space & Maker” is one out of four courses which are as follows:
- Becoming a Circular Maker Space & Maker (You will start here today)
- Community building and orchestration (With inspirational talks & tools)
- (Re)Making skills for a Circular Economy (Each of these courses will be organized by themes and are separately available)
- How to set up your local Circular Challenge (This course will be hands-on and your first step in becoming a local Circular Maker Champion)
The expected result is to develop skills and competencies among the participants and in their local communities, supporting a system transition and the empowerment of ‘circular citizens’. Welcome on board!
